10-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured In DWI Crash: Cops
Police say a drunken woman blew a stop sign and crashed into a car carrying a family of four. All four were injured in the Sunday crash.

HOLBROOK, NY – A drunken driver blew a stop sign and crashed into a car carrying a family of four on Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook Sunday night, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, 23-year-old Lauren Ortiz was driving a 2012 Honda sedan north on Coates Avenue when she drove through stop sign and crashed into the passenger side of a 2018 Honda sedan driven by Lee Kaiser Sr. as it was traveling eastbound on Vets Highway at about 8:55 p.m.
Lee Kaiser Jr., Kaiser Sr.’s 10-year-old son, who was in the rear passenger side seat, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Kaiser Sr., 40, of Holbrook, his wife Adriana, 37, a passenger in the front seat, and 8-year-old daughter Alessandra, a passenger in the back seat, were transported to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Ortiz, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was not injured. She was arrested and charged with DWI. She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
