19-Year-Old Charged With Felony DWI

Police say he was drunk and speeding on the LIE with a 15-year-old passenger in his car early Sunday.

HOLTSVILLE, NY – A 19-year-old man was arrested on a felony DWI charge after being pulled over on the Long Island Expressway early Sunday, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Thomas Zuckerman was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima at "excessive speed" east on the LIE with a 15-year-old girl in the car at 1:55 a.m.

A Highway Patrol officer initiated a traffic stop for speeding near Exit 63 and arrested Zuckerman at the scene. The 15-year-old was released to a family member.

Sixth Squad detectives charged Zuckerman, of Lake Ronkonkoma, with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger (a felony under Leandra’s Law) and endangering the welfare of a child.

Zuckerman was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
