2 Killed In Suffolk Crash Saturday: Police

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, police say.

RONKONKOMA, NY — Two people were killed in a Ronkonkoma crash Saturday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the single-vehicle crash took place on Peconic Street at 11:20 a.m.

A man was driving a Subaru Forester westbound on Peconic Street when the vehicle crossed into the
eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree, police said.

The driver and female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene; their identities are being withheld pending positive identification from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
