20-Year-Old Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash In Suffolk: PD

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A 20-year-old died early Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Lake Ronkonkoma, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Portion Road near Ronkonkoma Avenue at 2:36 a.m.

Joseph McKeegan was driving a 2007 BMW 335 sedan westbound on Portion Road from the

intersection of Ronkonkoma Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle — which crossed over the
eastbound lanes — left the roadway, and crashed into a utility pole, police said.

McKeegan, of Holbrook, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
