5 Charged With Child Endangerment For Vape And Alcohol Sales In Suffolk : Police

Five out of 11 businesses checked in response to community complaints were found in violation, Suffolk police say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Five people were arrested on misdemeanor charges on Saturday for selling vape products and alcohol to people under the age of 21 during compliance checks at multiple businesses throughout the 6th Precinct, Suffolk police said.

It happened while the precinct's Crime Section officers checked 11 businesses for laws related to the sale of vape, tobacco products, and alcohol in response to community complaints, according to police.

Five of the 11 businesses were found to have violations, police said.

The following people were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child:
• A 35-year-old from Ronkonkoma working at Beer, Cigar, and Lotto on Portion
Road in Ronkonkoma.
• A 26-year-old from Hicksville working at Prime Mart on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville.
• A 49-year-old from Bellport working at USA Gas Mart on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma.

The following people were charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child:
• A 53-year-old from Huntington Station, working at Mobil on Middle Country Road in Centereach.
• A 47-year-old from Plainview working at Barcode on Mark Tree Road in Centereach.

All five were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear in First District Court in
Central Islip on a later date.
