Man Arrested After Gunpoint 7-11 Robbery On LI, 2 Attempted Robberies, Including 1 With Fake Rifle: Police

Two of the attempted robberies took place over 24 hours, and an employee was hurt in one, Suffolk police say.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — A man investigators say is responsible for a robbery, and two attempted robberies over 24 hours — including one in which a fake rifle was used at a liquor store in Holtsville — all at gunpoint, was arrested Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

Following an investigation by detectives from the major case unit, as well as the 2nd and 6th squads arrested Michael Perko, a 52-year-old with no known last address, and two counts of first-degree attempted robbery, according to Suffolk County police.

Perko has been charged in connection with attempted robberies at BP Gas on North Ocean Avenue in Holtsville on Monday, and at Akshan Wine and Liquor on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville, in which a clerk was hurt in a scuffle with him, on Tuesday, police said.

He is additionally charged with a robbery in which cash was swiped at 7-Eleven on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, on Wednesday, according to police.

Perko is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
