BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were busy last week, according to the Suffolk County Police Department's logs.

CORAM

- Three people were slapped with first-and second-degree robbery charges, both felonies, after swiping nearly $600 in clothes from Dollar Tree in Coram at around 3:25 p.m. on July 9, then fleeing in a 2018 Chevy Tahoe, police said.
Charged in the incident are Herbert Barton and Deloise Barton, both 63 and from Rocky Point, and Tara Barton, 27, whose address was not available, according to police. The trio pleaded not guilty and temporary orders of protection were issued, online court records show.
Herbert and Deloise were released on bail without any monetary restrictions, while Tara's was set at $50,000, $100,000 insured bond, or $5 million partially secured surety bond, according to the records.

EAST SHIRLEY
A 27-year-old East Shirley man was charged with dangerous use of a weapon after police say he fired a rifle into the sky several times on July 4. No one was hurt in the incident.
PATCHOGUE
- A 50-year-old man was busted for crashing into a guardrail at the train crossing, snapping it in half, at Potter and Bay avenues in Patchogue, then bolting from the scene without stopping around midnight on July 9, police said. The man, who is from East Patchogue, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and not reporting it, a misdemeanor, according to police.
- An East Patchogue man was charged with second-degree menacing after police say he pulled a knife on a person he was fighting with on North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue on July 12.
SHIRLEY
- A home on Floyd Road in Shirley was entered through the back door and property removed at around 3:40 p.m. on July 12, police said.
SOUND BEACH
- Juveniles threw a rock at the window of the post office, which is under renovation on New York Avenue, and scrawled graffiti on the back wall between 2:30 and 3 p.m. on July 8, police said.
YAPHANK
- A West Islip man was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor, on June 4 after he sped away from a traffic stop on West Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank, police said.
