'Cherished Memories' Shared As Sachem Superintendent Announces Retirement

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — Sachem Central School District Superintendent Christopher Pelletieri said Thursday that he will be retiring from his position on July 31.
Pelletieri announced his resignation in an email, informing the school community that he had mixed emotions as the Board of Education accepted his resignation letter.
"It has been an honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, and families of our district for these four years," he said. "As I reflect on my time here, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to witness the growth and development of so many young minds."

He went on to say that over the years, he has had "the pleasure" of seeing the students' "dedication, resilience, and achievements both inside and outside the classroom."
"Each of them brought a unique perspective and enthusiasm to our schools," he said. "Whether it was excelling academically, participating in extracurricular activities, or demonstrating kindness
and compassion towards their peers in helping develop our culture of care, they have consistently exemplified the values we strive to instill in all our youngsters."

He expressed his "sincere appreciation for your ongoing support and collaboration throughout the years."
"Our staff, our Board of Education, our Sachem Family, has truly been amazing," he said. "Your involvement in your children's education has undoubtedly contributed to their success, and it has been a pleasure to work alongside you as partners in their learning journey."
"As I prepare to embark on this new chapter in my life, I am confident that Sachem will continue to thrive," he said. "While I will miss being part of this amazing family, I am excited about the opportunities that retirement will bring and look forward to staying connected with the wonderful people I have had the privilege of working alongside."
Pelletieri ended saying that he will always cherish the memories and relationships formed during his time as superintendent.
"Thank you once again for entrusting your children's education to us and for your support
over the years," he said. "Please know I always thought of all 12,000 of your kids, as 'our' kids. Wishing you and your family all the best in the future."
