LI Library To Honor Parkland Shooting Victims With Statue
A statue that will be installed at a Long Island library will honor victims of the Parkland shooting.

The Sachem Public Library will be hosting "Last Lockdown: A Tribute to the Parkland Shooting" on Monday, June 3.
The event will include the installation of a statue to honor the victims. The statue will be installed in the lower-level gallery and will remain there for a month.
This event will coincide with New York's Gun Violence Awareness Month, which was created in an effort to raise awareness surrounding the issue of needless and senseless gun violence in New York’s communities.

The statue was created by Manuel Oliver, father of 17 year old Joaquin Oliver, a victim of the Parkland shooting, along with artists Dan Crumrine, Sean Leonard, Caleb Sawyer, Adam Fontenault, Sarah Hoffman, and Susan Levine. The statue is a poignant tribute that memorializes this historic tragedy.
On Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m., Mr. Oliver will speak about how the piece came to be, his activism, and his art.
