Assemb. Doug Smith Has Been Reelected To NY's 5th AD: Newsday
He garnered 32,743 votes or 67.31 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The votes in New York's 5th Assembly District were still being counted Wednesday morning, though Newsday has declared Assemb. Doug Smith, a Holbrook Republican who has served in the assembly since 2019, the winner.
He was challenged for his seat by James Anthony, a Holbrook Democrat.

Suffolk County Board of Elections results as of 10:07 a.m.:
- Doug Smith (Republican, Conservative): 32,743 votes or 67.31 percent of the vote
- James Anthony (Democrat): 15,842 votes or 32.57 percent of the vote
The 5th Assembly District stretches from Islandia, Lake Ronkonkoma, and Lake Grove in the west to the Selden and Farmingville area in the east, and includes a portion of North Patchogue.
