SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — The Sachem Central School District's students and staff saluted veterans across the district in several events and activities ahead of the holiday, officials said in a news release.

Many elementary schools held parades, with students inviting their veteran family members to walk the halls while their peers waved American flags and cheered them on.

Some schools held question-and-answer sessions for students to interact with veterans and ask about their time serving our country.
