Man, 21, Shot In The Leg On Long Island On Monday Night: Police

He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk police say.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg in Selden on Monday night, Suffolk police said.

He was sitting in the driver's seat of a parked car on Comet Road when an unknown man approached the driver's door, opened it, and shot him at about 10:40 p.m., according to police..

The man got out of the vehicle and fought with the shooter who bolted from the scene shortly after, police said.

Selden resident Jose Colon told News 12 that he heard "a pop," then looked through the window, but "didn’t see anything.”

The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
