MASONVILLE, NY — A 29-year-old pregnant woman, who is originally from Long Island, was stabbed to death by her husband in upstate Masonville, New York State Police said.

Samantha Garnier, who was five months pregnant, was killed by her husband, Drew Garnier, 32, according to police.

Samantha was reportedly originally from Centereach and Drew, Lake Grove.

Garnier is also accused of stabbing his daughters, a nine-year-old and a six-year-old, but they are expected to make "a full recovery," police said, adding that family has arrived "from outside the area and will be caring for both girls."

At around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute at a Houck Road home and Garnier was found inside and rendered aid by troopers and sheriffs' deputies before the arrival of emergency medical technicians, police said.

Garnier was airlifted to Wilson Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to police. One child was also taken to Wilson but was transferred to Upstate Medical Center, and a second child was airlifted there, police said.

State police told News 12 Friday that Garnier had no previous encounters with them and that they never responded to a domestic dispute at the home until the night of the stabbing.

In an investigative report obtained by Newsday, a 911 dispatcher said that Drew Garnier was trying to apply pressure to his wife's wounds to stop the bleeding, and that when troopers approached the home, he poked his head out of the front door and then ducked back in, and they heard a single "high-velocity" gunshot.

He was covered in blood and a butter knife was found in his pocket, the outlet reported.

Samantha Garnier was found lying on her side with multiple stab wounds, according to the outlet.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith said his office is looking into how they can potentially prosecute Garnier for the death of the unborn child, News 12 reported.

Due to how the laws in New York are set up, there is nothing they can charge Garnier with regarding the unborn child, adding, "It’s not like you may think or maybe want. It’s not two murders because the child passed away," according to the outlet.

The DA is looking to quickly secure a grand jury indictment, binghamtonhomepage.com reported.

The Daily Star reported that it was Drew Garnier who called 911 and that investigators are still trying to develop a motive for the stabbing.

Garnier has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder and he is being held without bail at Delaware Jail, according to police.

It was not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney.

State Police said multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Delaware County Sheriff’s office, the Sidney, Walton, and Delhi police departments, LifeNet, the Walton and Trout Creek fire departments, AMR/Delaware County Ambulance, Sidney EMS, and Ambulanz.

Garnier's mother, Jean Vernagallo, declined to comment.

Just this past July, Samantha Garnier posted a reel to her Facebook page featuring herself and her husband speaking, with her asking him if he remembered the lyrics to the song, "If I was your best friend" by Jaylabrenae.

The song goes, "If I was your best friend, could I be your best friend? If you promise, you'll be mine?"

The song plays in the background while photos of the couple flash, one of them includes a photo of Samantha Garnier pregnant, yet another shows Drew Garnier pointing what appears to be an assault rifle in a wooded area.

A GoFundMe has been created by a family member to help the couple's two little girls.
