A year after developers broke ground on a $600 million hub in Ronkonkoma, progress has been made.
The complex, which will be made up of apartments, stores, restaurants and offices to transform a struggling downtown near the area's train station, is well underway, according to photos posted to Facebook by the project's developers, Tritec Real Estate Company.

According to Tritec's Facebook page, they have made significant progress on six buildings and the work has continued.

In 2017, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced for plans for the state-of-the-art hub, which includes 1,450 residential units, 360,000 square feet of commercial space, nearly 200,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of hospitality and exhibition space.

Cuomo said phase I one of the project is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs, with 11,000 jobs expected to be created over the course of the project and 2,700 permanent full-time jobs to be created once the development is completed.

The project is located steps from Ronkonkoma Station and will be built in four stages over the next 7 to 10 years, Cuomo said.

"The Ronkonkoma Hub builds on our transformational investments in the LIRR and furthers our efforts to develop a new New York and a sustainable Long Island," Cuomo said in a news release in 2017.
