Sachem East High School 2024 Valedictorian And Salutatorian Celebrated
Adrian Dayao have been named Valedictorian, and Michael Mauro, Salutatorian, Sachem Central School District officials said.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Sachem High School East Class of 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian have been named, school district officials announced in a recent news release.
Valedictorian Adrian Dayao, a bright student who spends his free time immersing himself in his learning, is enrolled in several Advanced Placement courses, including the rigorous AP Computer Science A. He has taken a three-period computer repair course to gain a practical skill and develop a deeper understanding of the topic he plans to study in college.
Dayao, a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, plays first chair viola with Select Strings, a club that plays at the chamber orchestra level, and enjoys composing his viola pieces.

He is also a member of the Sachem East chess club where he was captain and co-president during his junior year.
Dayao is also member of the Sachem robotics team as a pit programmer, fixing programming issues with a robot during competitions, and during his free time, he creates his programs. Most recently, he remade a closed-source word game solver in Python and contributes to Open Sources projects by helping fix bugs.

Salutatorian Michael Mauro is a well-rounded student and an active member of the Sachem East school community.
His academic accomplishments have earned him an AP Scholar with Distinction designation, an AP Capstone Diploma, and a National Merit Scholarship Letter of Commendation. He serves as the president of DECA, as well as several honor societies, including National Honor Society, and English and Math honor societies.
Mauro, a delegate for Model United National, has been the class president all four years at Sachem East High School.
He is an Eagle Scout and has dedicated time to serve the local community, which included serving as an intern in Suffolk County Legis. Anthony Piccirillo’s office where he learned the inner workings of government last year.
In addition, he is the alternative captain of the varsity ice hockey team.
