Sachem High School East Names Valedictorian And Salutatorian

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Sachem High School East officials on Friday announced the Class of 2025's valedictorian and salutatorian — Ibrahim Suleman and Krish Vakharia.

"These two outstanding students have exemplified academic excellence, leadership, and service throughout their high school careers," school district officials said in a news release.

Suleman, who earned the top academic honor, will attend Princeton University on a full scholarship through the prestigious QuestBridge program where he plans to major in biomedical science/pre-medicine with a minor in creative writing.

He served as class president all four years, and is a Regeneron Top 300 Scholar and recipient of the QuestBridge Quest for Excellence STEM Award, and his scientific research on sustainable energy using biophotovoltaic systems and primitive plants received top recognition at the Long Island Science Congress.

He is a school record holder in the discus throw, has served as president of both the English and science honor societies, and his "commitment to service" is reflected in his volunteer work at Atria Senior Living, Community Solidarity food drives, and as an SAT tutor with Schoolhouse, officials said.

Vakharia, who holds a weighted GPA of 105.19 and an unweighted GPA of 98.39, ranked second in a class of 471 students.

He will attend Stony Brook University in the Honors College as a pre-medical student majoring
in chemistry.

He is a National AP Scholar with Honors, an AP Capstone Diploma recipient, and an awardee for Excellence in Foreign Language and the NYS Civic Seal of Readiness. He is also a four-year member of the Sachem East football team, and balanced part-time work at Farmingville Bagels and Deli, as well as active participation in the Farmingville Youth Civics Organization.

He volunteers regularly at his local temple and is involved in several honor societies, including math, national, Rho Kappa, and science.
