Sachem Library School Supply Drive Will Run Until September

The library is seeking backpacks, scissors, notebooks, pencils and more.

SACHEM, NY — The Sachem Public Library is sponsoring its second annual Backpack and School Supply Drive until the first week of September. The donated items will go to elementary to high school students within the district and local charities and churches in the nearby communities.

“We deliver to Farmingville, Lake Ronkonkoma and Holbrook,” said children’s librarian Megan McGinnis about the locations of the churches and charities. “Last year we collected 300 items.”

The library is seeking donations for unused backpacks, lunch boxes, scissors, crayons, notebooks, pencils and more to be distributed to local schools, according to McGinnis and people can leave the collected items at the Children’s Department with the librarian or with the department’s head Amy Johnston.
