LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A Sachem School District mom has appealed to the school board to reinstate her daughter to class after she was barred from attending after her medical vaccination exemption was rejected, News 12 reported.

Lori Phelan told the board at Wednesday's meeting that the district's doctor has denied the exemption after eight years, saying, that watching her "child suffer in isolation for two and a half months was something no parent should have to witness or endure."

"For any parent who has to make a choice between their child's education and their health is really a predicament that no parent should ever have to be in," she said, according to the outlet.
