Sachem Star Student Has 'A Passion For Music'
Brandon channeled his feelings into his music and has mastered seven instruments.

SACHEM, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages, and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Sarah Itterly-Rivas, who nominated her son, Brandon of Sachem.

How do you know the star local student?
He is my son.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Brandon is a 15-year-old sophomore at Sachem East High School who excels academically with a 99.2 overall average.
Brandon’s passion is music. He started at a young age playing euphonium and piano and now plays an array of musical instruments totaling seven. Brandon’s father passed away when he was seven years old and he was able to turn to music to express himself in ways he was unable to verbally. He has a passion for music and music composition. He poured his heart and soul into composing and has had one of his six-minute compositions performed by his high school wind ensemble at the mid-year concert. Brandon is part of Tri-M Music Honor Society and enjoys volunteering at different music events.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Brandon is a hard-working accomplished 15-year-old. He is kind, compassionate, and caring. Brandon is proof that although you can go through tragedy as a child if you focus on the positive you can come out on top.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Brandon!
