3 Hurt After Garbage Truck Overturns On Vets Highway

HOLBROOK, NY – Three people were injured when a garbage truck overturned on Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook Thursday morning.

Suffolk County Police responded to the crash on the eastbound side of the highway at 11:18 a.m.

Police say the garbage truck experienced a tire blowout, which resulted in the driver losing control of the truck and it overturned into the median.

Three men (all in the cab of the truck) were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Motor Carrier Safety Section officers responded to the scene and inspected the truck. No summonses were issued. A small amount of garbage from the truck spilled onto the roadway.
