September 10, 2019
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Earlier today we received a report of suspicious activity taking place at or around one of our bus stops. Two Sachem North students reported that a man in a black sedan stopped and asked them questions near Ackerly Lane and Pond Road. The building administration, our security staff, and the Suffolk County Police Department have all been notified.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind our parents to please continue to review stranger and safety protocols with your children and reinforce the following:
• Remind children not to talk to strangers.
• Develop a plan for how to respond to a stranger (where to go, who to call).
• Walk with children to and from bus stops and school whenever possible.
• Have your child report any similar incidents to a responsible adult (parent,
guardian, school official, police officer, etc.) immediately.
We remain committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, and our district administrators and security team will continue to work with our local police departments toward doing so. Your support in talking with your children about these types of situations is greatly appreciated. Please contact me directly if you have any additional questions or comments.

Sincerely,
Kenneth E. Graham, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
