Suspect Used Hatchet To Rob 7-Eleven On Long Island: Police

He used a hatchet to break a glass countertop lotto display and an employee handed him cash from the register, police say.

CENTEREACH, NY — Suffolk police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect they say robbed a Centereach store with a hatchet in September.

A man entered the 7-Eleven on Mark Tree Road on Sept. 24 just after 11 p.m. and used a hatchet to break a glass countertop lotto display and demanded money from an employee, according to police.

The employee handed the suspect the cash register draw, police said, adding, the man then ran away. He was wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates hat, sunglasses, a black-hoodie, black shorts with a gray stripe, and black sneakers, according to police.
