Suspect Wanted For Farmingville Stop & Shop Theft: Police

He switched out money that was supposed to be used to pay for a $1,000 money order, Suffolk police say.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Suffolk police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect they say swiped money from Stop & Shop in Farmingville in July.

At around 6 p.m. on July 28, a man tried to buy a $1,000 money order from the North Ocean Avenue store, and handed the cashier the cash, but then switched the money he gave to the cashier and only paid $400 for the money order and took off, police said.

In images taken from security video, the man can be seen wearing light-colored jeans, and a dark-colored shirt with a white stripe across the top and arms.
