Taco Truck Right Coast Taqueria Reopens Tuesday In Ronkonkoma

The "virtual kitchen" Mexican food trailer is still serving its trademark birria tacos and other eats but has moved from its Holbrook spot.

RONKONKOMA, NY —The owners of Right Coast Taqueria embraced the mobile, no-line mobile ordering model during the pandemic, and their customers responded. The popular taco and Mexican food truck that operated from a Holbrook shopping center until this past June was the second outpost of a Deer Park Tijuanuan-style eatery, and on Tuesday it reopened in a new location.

The truck didn't go too far: it's now parked at 101 Hawkins Ave., just off the Long Island Expressway Service Rd. going east in Ronkonkoma.

Owners Rich Zoob and Dave Preisler know the Holbrook and Ronkonkoma area well—Zoob grew up in the area—and decided the food truck model made a lot of sense in 2021. The truck is actually a 30-foot trailer, Zoob tells Patch, that serves as a full kitchen cooking up gourmet twists on Tijuanan tacos and Mexican street food.

Customers place orders via app and third-party delivery platforms. At first the truck was serving the full Deer Park restaurant's menu, Zoob explains, but he found what worked best was a full selection of tacos, burritos and pupusas.

Right Coast Taqueria is known for birria tacos, tacos with slow-cooked, stew-like beef. Other popular taco types are Mongolian beef tacos, pork tacos al pastor and Thai chicken tacos. Every day will have a different special burrito of the day, Zoob said, with some more adventurous takes on classic Mexican cooking that the owners say they learned through long careers cooking in kitchens with Mexican colleagues.

The truck is open 11:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. during the winter, and summer hours will be extended. Right Coast Taqueria may be coming to a third location soon, but the owners won't reveal details yet.

"People love that they can order on the app, and there's never a line. It makes their life easy which they love."
