Teenage Pedestrian Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash: PD

A teenage boy rollerblading in the road was hit by a car, police say.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A teenage pedestrian was critically injured in a motor vehicle crash in Lake Ronkonkoma on Thursday, Suffolk police said.

A 56-year-old Nesconset woman was driving a 2024 Volkswagen SUV on Smith Road, near Cenacle Road, when she struck a 14-year-old boy who was rollerblading in the roadway around 4:30 p.m., police said.

The teenager was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said. The driver was not injured, police said.

The Volkswagen was impounded for a safety check.
