It's been a problem for months.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – When vandals smashed his PVC fence in late August, Keith Higgins installed a motion light in the area. It didn't help. At 2:45 a.m. Sunday, vandals struck again at his home between Morris and Warren avenues south of Portion Road in Farmingville.

"There were Suffolk PD already in the area as reports of group of kids, about 15 had been destroying mailboxes, fences, light posts," Higgins said of early Sunday morning. "We see evidence of this as we drive around neighborhood. One home on Warren Avenue has had damage so often to their fence it’s becoming sad to see."

Two weeks ago, vandals hit Higgins's next-door neighbor's fence.

"Police have said there is a group they suspect my be the culprits, but no luck to this point in catching them," Higgins said. "The more people are aware the better chance someone calls it in and we catch them."
