Woman Arrested After Fleeing Scene Of Fatal Suffolk Crash: PD

A 36-year-old pedestrian died in the crash, police say.

SELDEN, NY — A woman was arrested after fleeing the scene of a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian in Selden early Sunday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on College Road, north of Mooney Pond Road, at about 1:20 a.m.

A passing motorist observed a body and vehicle debris in the roadway and called 911, police said.

When Sixth Precinct officers arrived at the scene, they found Randolph King, 36, of Selden, unconscious in the roadway; he was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Police located a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with damage to the front end and windshield and arrested Yeymi Sanchez-Guzman, 31, of Selden, authorities said.

Major case unit detectives charged Sanchez-Guzman with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, police said. She is being held at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, police said.
