1 Dead After Getting Hit By Car On LI: Police

A man was hit and killed by a person driving a Ford Mustang on Long Island on Saturday night, Suffolk County police say.

BLUE POINT, NY — A man was hit and killed by a vehicle in Blue Point on Saturday night, according to Suffolk County police.

Adam Polis was driving a 2015 Ford Mustang eastbound in the left lane of Sunrise Highway, west of Waverly Avenue, when he saw three people in the road and swerved to the right to avoid them around 8:35 p.m., police said.

The police said the vehicle hit and killed Carlos Villafane, 69, of Mastic Beach,who was standing in the center lane and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Polis, 36, of Patchogue, the other two pedestrians, and a passenger in the Mustang were not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information may call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
