10 Ducklings Rescued By Long Island Firefighters: FD

SAYVILLE, NY — A mother duck and her ducklings were reunited after a crew of Long Island firefighters came to their rescue.
On Monday afternoon, Sayville Fire Department firefighters responded to a report of a group of baby ducks trapped in a storm drain in a residential neighborhood.
Crews were on the scene quickly, removed the drain cover and safety rescued 10 ducklings from the depths of the drain.

In a social media post, fire department officials wrote:
"This afternoon, the Sayville Fire Department waddled into action for a very special rescue; a group of adventurous ducklings took a wrong turn and ended up trapped in a storm drain!

"With some quack teamwork and gentle hands, our firefighters safely scooped them out one by one and reunited them with their very relieved mama! No fire? No problem.
"Whether it’s flames or feathers, we’re always here to help our community; two-legged, four-legged, or web-footed!"
According to BirdFact.com, a waddling or a flock are the most common names given to a group of ducks on land, either walking, sitting or standing still. Sord is another word for ducks out of water, but is not used often.
Meanwhile, a group of ducks swimming on the water is called raft, a paddling and a badling.
