Mitchell, a resident of the Oakdale home of Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) will now get to enjoy beautiful gardens along with his friends in their backyard thanks to the hard work of volunteers from the Philanthropy Network of New York (PNNY). Up until now, Mitchell has planted plastic flowers around the trees of their backyard as a way to honor his late mother. “[Mitchell] loves to come out to look at the plants and take care of the plants,” said Rob Ciatto, President/CEO of ACLD. “It’s very special to him, which means it’s very special to us.”

A group of 15 volunteers spent the day planting six flower beds with perennial flowers around the trees in the backyard, placing two new planters at the residence's front entrance, cleaning and organizing the garage, and assisting in cleaning out overgrown plants around the property.

“We’re so happy to be here at ACLD today, bringing together local Long Island companies with local not-for-profits to do great work together,” said Liz Saitta, Co-Founder of PNNY. PNNY matches companies with volunteer opportunities in the nonprofit sector.
