ALDI Supermarket Chain To Open In Bohemia

The discount store will hold a grand opening on Thursday, where customers can win $100 gift cards.

BOHEMIA, NY — A new grocery will soon open in the Sayville Shopping Center.

ALDI, a German, multinational discount supermarket chain, will hold a grand opening on Thursday at its new Bohemia store, located at 5147 Sunrise Hwy.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9 a.m., ALDI confirmed with Patch.

The grocery store will take the place of the shopping center's former K-Mart, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for five years running,” said Chris Daniels, South Windsor regional vice president for ALDI. “We’re excited to open our first ALDI store in Bohemia and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

The first 100 customers will receive a "golden ticket" that can be worth up to a $100 gift card, its website said.

Shoppers will also be given a free tote bag while supplies are available, and can enter a raffle to win a $500 gift card.

This is ALDI's 10th store on Long Island. Other locations include: Bay Shore, Lindenhurst, Lake Grove, North Babylon, Riverhead, Patchouge, Shirley, Selden, and Valley Stream.

A representative told Patch that the chain plans on opening 150 new stores in the country and become the third-largest U.S. grocery retailer by store count by the end of this year.

There are currently 2,200 ALDI stories in the U.S.
