Bayport Beach And Tanner Beach Closed To Bathing
The beaches are closed until further notice due to excess levels of bacteria, Suffolk County Health Department says.

BAYPORT, NY — Two additional Long Island beaches are closed to swimming, due to an excess level of bacteria, the Suffolk County Health Department announced.
Bayport Beach in Bayport, and Tanner Beach in Copiague, have been closed as of Tuesday, and will reopen when further testing reveals that the bacteria has subsided to acceptable levels.
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gregson Pigott, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
