Bayport-Blue Point High School Drama Club Presents 18th Annual One Act Play Festival

The festival featured six short plays ranging from comedy to drama, highlighting both veteran performers and emerging talent.

BAYPORT, NY — The Bayport-Blue Point High School Drama Club drew a lively audience on Nov. 21 and 22 as students presented the school’s 18th annual One Act Play Festival, featuring six short productions that brought a wide range of stories and styles to the stage.

This year’s festival included “After Hours” by Kevin Stone, an ensemble-centered piece performed in a traditional play format; “Keystone Knights” by Lindsay Price, a lighthearted comedy suited for all ages; and “Whatever I Want” by Mark Harvey Levine, a moving story that explores loss and survivor’s guilt. Students also performed “In the Jar” by Ian McWethy, a humorous look at a group of bugs stuck together; “The Chocolate Affair” by Stephanie Alison Walker, which offers an insightful take on addiction; and “Wendy’s Tale” by Alan Haehnel, the festival’s major ensemble work in which the full cast remained onstage for the entire 40-minute performance.

The event honored three graduating seniors for their contributions to the program and highlighted a strong group of underclassmen who will return to the spotlight this spring in the school’s upcoming musical, Guys and Dolls.
