BAYPORT, NY — Bayport-Blue Point High School named its top academic honorees for the Class of 2026. Jefferson Swan has been named valedictorian and Shlok Parekh has been named salutatorian in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements, leadership and service to the school community.

Throughout his years at Bayport-Blue Point, Swan has distinguished himself as both a scholar and a leader. He serves as an executive officer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is an active member of the National Honor Society, Mathletes, and the Science Olympiad team.

Through the school's Science Education initiative, he shares his love of learning by teaching elementary students about science. A talented musician, Swan plays bass in the chamber orchestra, pit orchestra, and jazz band. He is also a four-year member of the varsity tennis team, earning All-Division honors in 2025 and receiving the Sportsmanship Award.

His academic record includes being named an AP Scholar with Distinction and earning the Bausch and Lomb Award for AP Chemistry, the Ronald Reagan Award for AP U.S. History, and recognition for excellence in AP Precalculus, AP Statistics, Spanish IV, Orchestra, and Physical Education. Outside the classroom, Swan volunteers at South Shore University Hospital, assisting patients and supporting medical staff.

Salutatorian Shlok Parekh is being recognized for his exceptional academic success and research work. As a Brookhaven National Laboratory research intern, Parekh has developed algorithms for quantum communication and astronomy applications. He has also taken advanced math courses at Stony Brook University, including Linear Algebra and Calculus III.

Passionate about education and technology, Parekh creates instructional YouTube videos covering AP Biology, Calculus, U.S. History, and Computer Science — videos that have collectively received more than 20,000 views. As head of the web and development team for the BBP Enterprise Club, he helped design the school store and develop new software for the club.

Parekh is also a key member of the Science Olympiad team, competing in Codebusters, Helicopter, and Robot Tour events. He is a member of the National Honor Society, tutors fellow students in algebra and biology, and volunteers at community organizations, including Lighthouse Mission and Gayatri Pariwar of Long Island.

In addition to their academic and service achievements, both Swan and Parekh are members of the varsity tennis team, where they compete as doubles partners and have each been recognized for their teamwork and sportsmanship.

Bayport-Blue Point High School congratulated both students on their exceptional accomplishments and wished them continued success in their future endeavors.
