Dunkin' Donuts Proposal Stirs Controversy in Bayport

The Islip Planning Town Board will hold a public hearing Thursday regarding a plan to open a Dunkin' Donuts in Bayport.

BAYPORT, NY – A proposal to re-zone property at a busy Bayport corner for a new Dunkin' Donuts location promises to bring a crowd to the Islip Town Planning Board meeting Thursday evening.

Dunkin' Donuts want to open a shop at the northeast corner of Montauk Highway and Bayport Avenue, the former home of a Citibank.

Some residents in the area don't think that's such a great idea.

"A much better use for this property would be a professional enterprise with low traffic impact which would be a much better and safer fit for this location," Carl Bohringer wrote in a recent column on Patch.
