SAYVILLE, NY—A proposed zone change in Sayville for a new mini self-storage facility is a no-go. On Thursday, Islip Town voted against the proposed change that would have changed 246 N. Main St. to industrial from retail.

The site was most recently the site of F-14 Sports Complex. Safeguard Self Storage wanted to build mini self-storage units on the property, which was opposed by several Sayville groups and residents.

The Sayville Chamber of Commerce and Sayville Civic Association both spoke out against the proposal, citing concerns about downtown's zoning, character and the presence of two existing self-storage facilities nearby.
