Man Arrested For DWI After Driving Pickup Truck Into Canal: Cops
The 35-year-old tried to drive over a foot bridge on Long Island early Sunday. It did not go well. See photos inside the story.

OAKDALE, NY – A 35-year-old man was drunk when he drove his pickup truck off a foot bridge in Oakdale early Sunday, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, Christian Ayala-Garcia was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck on Miami Road around midnight when he attempted to drive across a foot bridge over a canal. The pickup truck veered off the bridge and into the canal. Ayala-Garcia exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, police said.
Fifth Precinct officers apprehended Ayala-Garcia at about 12:40 a.m. on Idle Hour Boulevard near Connetquot Drive, police said.

Ayala-Garcia, of Central Islip, was arrested and charged with DWI. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Sunday morning.
