Man Dies After Being Hit by Car on Sunrise Highway Overpass

Police say it happened Sunday night.

BOHEMIA, NY – A 42-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on a Sunrise Highway overpass Sunday night.

According to Suffolk Police, Christopher Gallagher, of Bohemia, was hit by a 2017 Nissan Altima that was going southbound on Oakdale-Bohemia Road in Bohemia at about 9:45 p.m. Gallagher was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, 24-year-old Paul Inzirillo, of Sayville, initially left the scene in the Nissan, but he returned about 20 minutes later, police said. No criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.
