Patchogue Family YMCA Awarded $5,000 from Folks Insurance Group

Supporters Can Help Double the Donation to $10,000 by Voting for their Agent Giving Story

West Sayville, NY (January 25, 2024) — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Folks Insurance Group a 2024 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Patchogue Family YMCA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for Patchogue Family YMCA, which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online.

Starting Thursday, February 1, the Folks Insurance Group and Patchogue Family YMCA community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/folks-insurance-group/, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

Celebrating 13 years in the community, Patchogue Family YMCA has grown dramatically on Long Island especially its Universal Pre-K programs, and currently provides facilities and teaching to three Long Island school districts. The $10,000 donation will help the nonprofit with its capital fundraising campaign to renovate and reconfigure its facility to add more Pre-K classrooms. Additionally, the donation will help resurface the gymnasium floor for the young and old who participate daily in basketball, soccer, and pickleball.

As chairman of the Patchogue Family YMCA, Folks runs monthly board meetings, assists in planning fundraisers and, along with its agency team, participates in annual golf outings that raise money to send children to summer camps and monthly food distributions. The agency also contributes funds and sponsors various events for the YMCA throughout the year.

Throughout 2024, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
