Phantoms Shut Down Greenport/Southold/Mattick 24-0 in Gridiron Match

Now 5-2 in division play, the team hosts Mount Sinai next Saturday.

The Bayport-Blue Point Varsity Boys Football team shut out Greenport/Southold/Mattituck Saturday with a win of 24-0.

Matt McKinnon had four receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown and scored a 50-yard touchdown on a fake punt in the third quarter to lead Bayport-Blue Point (5-2) in Division IV. 

McKinnon was also 3-for-3 on extra points and kicked a 22-yard field goal.

The Bayport-Blue Point defense was led by Christian Engel, who had two solo tackles, five assisted tackles and a sack. Quarterback Brendan Bateman was 8/19 for 76 yards and 1 TD. The Phantoms forced five turnovers.

The Phantoms will host Mt. Sinai (5-2) next Saturday at 2pm in the regular season finale.
