Sayville Librarians Present Award-Winning Collaboration Strategies At National Conference
The trio presented their "Power of Partnership" model to school librarians in St.Louis.
SAYVILLE, NY — Three Sayville Public Schools librarians presented their innovative, partnership-driven programming to colleagues from across the country this fall at the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) National Conference in St. Louis.
Librarians Alison Cascarelli, Kelsey LaPort, and Kateri Volpe were selected to lead a featured session titled “Librarians Leading the Way: The Power of Partnerships.” Their presentation highlighted how Sayville’s collaborative approach — connecting librarians with teachers, administrators, community organizations, and families — strengthens literacy, builds engagement, and places the library at the center of school culture.
During the session, the trio shared successful Sayville initiatives that demonstrate how partnerships can transform a school library from a standalone resource into a dynamic instructional hub. Their examples included districtwide literacy opportunities, the integration of emerging technology, and creative programming that uses both school-based and local community resources.
