Sayville Schools Host Moving-Up Ceremonies

Students From Four Schools Celebrated

The Sayville Union Free School District recently celebrated four moving up ceremonies to celebrate fifth- and- eighth-grade students moving on to higher levels. Elementary schools Cherry Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Sunrise Drive, along with Sayville Middle School, honored students for taking the next steps in their educational journeys.

The ceremonies highlighted academic achievement; students were honored with certificates marking the end of their journeys in elementary and middle school. Students gave speeches; performed musical numbers; and were presented with awards in front of their family, friends, classmates, teachers, and District administration. Sunrise Drive held their ceremony in their school, Cherry Avenue held theirs at the Old Junior High, and the middle school auditorium hosted the ceremonies for Lincoln Avenue and Sayville Middle School.

“All of us in the Sayville School District have an immense feeling of pride when we watch our students take the next step in their academic careers,” said Sayville Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marc Ferris. “I am so happy to see each of these students honored this week and I am excited to see what they might do for the rest of their time in Sayville schools and beyond.”
