Sayville Students Sweep Awards In Research, Medical Marvels And Girl Scouts
Students were honored for standout achievements in STEM competitions, industry mentorship, and the Girl Scout Silver award.
SAYVILLE, NY — A group of Sayville students were formally recognized at this month’s Board of Education meeting for earning top distinctions in science research, STEM competitions, industry mentorship programs and community leadership, according to district officials.
Superintendent Dr. Marc Ferris and the Board highlighted students whose work stood out in regional and national programs. According to the district, honorees included:
- Wesley Jones and Max Person, who received honorable mention awards in the Long Island Science Congress for their research projects.
- Garrett Ginty, Brady O’Donoghue and Daniel Yasinki, recognized for their strong performance in the Northwell Health Medical Marvels Competition.
- Joseph Albertelli, Audrey Shull, Mia Schutte and Chloe Radziewicz, honored for completing the A.C.E. (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) Mentor Program of Greater New York, which pairs students with industry professionals.
- Kenneth Ruf, acknowledged for his work in the Brookhaven National Laboratory Summer High School Research Program, a selective science initiative.
- Zoe Lazarus and Emma Klein, celebrated for earning the Girl Scout Silver Award, one of the highest recognitions in Girl Scouting for leadership and community service.
“These students are not only excelling in the classroom but applying their skills to real-world challenges,” Ferris said. “Their dedication speaks to the strength of our programs and the educators who support them.”
