'Unwavering Dedication': Bayport FD Mourns Beloved Firefighter

BAYPORT, NY — The Bayport-Blue Point community is mourning the death of a dedicated Blue Point native, fireman, and community member.
Tom Arpino of Blue Point died on Oct. 28. He was 59.
In a Facebook post announcing his passing on Wednesday, the fire department wrote:

"It is with deepest regret that the Chief's office announces that firefighter, Tom Arpino has answered his last alarm.
"Tom joined the department nine years ago and was assigned to the Hook and Ladder Company. He will forever be remembered for his humor, kindness, and commitment to the fire department and community."

According to his obituary, Arpino was born and raised in Blue Point, graduated from Bayport-Blue Point High School, and worked for the Long Island Railroad as a car inspector.
As a "beloved and active" member of the fire department, he was "known for his unwavering dedication to service."
Arpino is survived by his wife, Rosetta; his children, Emily and Thomas; and many other family members.
Wake services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Raynor D Andrea Funeral Home in Bayport.
A funeral mass will take place Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow R.C. Church in Blue Point followed by interment at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sayville.
