West Islip and Bayport Beaches Closed To Swimming
The beaches are closed until further notice, Suffolk County Health Department says.

WEST ISLIP & BAYPORT, NY — Two more Suffolk County beaches have been closed for bathing, the Suffolk County Health Department announced on Tuesday.
West Islip and Bayport Beaches are closed to bathing due to the finding of bacteria at levels in excess of acceptable criteria, the department said.
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gregson Pigott, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
