Working To Expand Business Opportunities In Islip

Panelists at Foreign Trade Zone executive breakfast discuss ways to attract companies to the township.

Islip Town’s Foreign Trade Zone recently held an executive breakfast panel discussion focused on the topic, “Long Island, The Next Business Destination.”

Held at the Courtyard Marriott in Ronkonkoma, the panel included Astrid Fidelia, executive director of the Foreign Trade Zone; Yves Michel, commissioner, Suffolk County Economic Development and Workforce Housing; Frank D’Andrea, director of Sales and Marketing with Courtyard Marriott; and Gerard Drumm with the Brookhaven Rail Terminal.

Each panelist spoke of the role their respective organization plays in helping bring new business to Islip Town and Suffolk County.

Among the highlights of the meeting were Michel speaking about his recent trip to China with Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, D’Andrea on the positives of having international flights at Long Island MacArthur Airport, and Drumm offering his insight on how expanded commercial rail service could benefit businesses across Suffolk County.
