Here are six local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Child Care Council of Westchester (Scarsdale): "champions the healthy development of children, families and our community by promoting quality early care and education."
- Friends of the Scarsdale Public Library: "plays a vital role in ensuring that our local library is a dynamic and multifaceted cultural and intellectual center for all. The Friends was founded in 1946 by residents in order to work with the library board and staff in helping the library reach its 'maximum usefulness' in Scarsdale, and to this day, the members of FOSL support, advocate, and fundraise to do exactly this."
- Friends of the Weinberg Nature Center (Scarsdale): "To promote and encourage an understanding, appreciation and study of the practice of conservation and of the natural sciences and to that end to participate in and encourage the use and development of the Weinberg Nature Center and other conservation activities."
- Greenburgh Nature Center (Scarsdale): "to inspire passion, curiosity, respect, and action for our natural world."
- Impact100 Westchester, Inc. (Hartsdale): "Award high-impact, Transformational Project Grants and Core Mission Grants to nonprofits serving Westchester. Reach under-resourced populations and highlight unmet needs. Educate Impact100 members on the nonprofit sector. Provide volunteer opportunities to our members through our Hands-On Projects and Community Service Days. Raise awareness of lesser-known nonprofits within Westchester County.
- Scarsdale Foundation: "For almost 100 years, the Scarsdale Foundation has quietly but effectively helped individuals and local community organizations in need through scholarships and grants. The Scarsdale Foundation also supports a strong community by celebrating volunteerism through its annual awarding of the Scarsdale Bowl."
