Brown Tap Water Possible: Scarsdale Annual Water Main Flushing Begins

The flushing may cause discolored water, which will be safe to drink, but may stain laundry. Neighboring communities may also be affected.

SCARSDALE, NY — If you live in or around Scarsdale, your tap water might not be crystal clear in the near future.

The Water Department said it will be conducting water main flushing this month, beginning Monday, and will continue until all pipes in the system have been systematically flushed. Water main flushing prevents discoloration of water during the heavy demand summer months, the department explained.

Slight discoloration may appear during the flushing period, but should settle out in a short time.
