Learn the royal game of chess in a fun and supportive environment. Taught by National Master Benjamin Gershenov, this class is ideal for beginners and casual players looking to build confidence and skills.
You’ll explore the rules of the game, piece movement, essential tactics, and core strategies that set you up for successful, satisfying play. Each session breaks concepts down clearly and offers plenty of guided practice. By the end, you’ll feel comfortable playing full games and thinking more strategically at the board.
About the Instructors
Benjamin Gershenov is a national master and former national champion who has been teaching chess professionally for over a decade. Known for his energetic, engaging teaching style, he has coached individuals and teams to state and national titles. Ben works with students of all ages and levels, helping them build confidence, focus, and strategic thinking through chess.
Felix Lopez is a USCF-rated chess expert with 30+ years of experience teaching players of all ages. Felix represented the United States in two correspondence chess matches against Spain and Australia, and his students and teams have won over 15 national chess championships. Felix makes chess fun, exciting, and interesting, while guiding his students to build and sharpen their planning, strategic thinking, and critical reasoning skills.
