Driver Gets 2 to 6 Years For Fatal Hit-And-Run In Hartsdale

He was under the influence of Xanax when he drove his pick-up truck into 65-year-old Stephanie Kavourias at a sidewalk.

HARTSDALE, NY — The family of a Westchester community leader got justice today as the man responsible for her death was sentenced to prison.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Monday that a Brooklyn man was sentenced to two to six years in prison for the August 2023 hit-and-run in Hartsdale that killed 65-year-old Stephanie Kavourias.

"The victim was a beloved figure in the Greenburgh community, and her life was senselessly taken when the defendant chose to get behind the wheel of his car and drive while impaired," Rocah said. "We hope this prosecution and sentence helps Ms. Kovourias’s loved ones begin the process of healing from this tragedy."
